透過女兒的提問與視角，母親Heydi為女兒介紹動物的傳統名字、動物的習性與覓食場域、模擬動物所發出的聲音，以及建立這些理解之上所發展出來的獨特追蹤模式。這部影片呈現出母親在山林狩獵經驗中所累積的身體知識。而母親在女兒的鏡頭下交雜使用著族語與中文進行說明，將山林裡的生命訊息翻譯給女兒聽，這讓影像同時也成為一種關係性的銘刻與紀錄——那些存在於母親與女兒之間的同一與差異。

Through her daughter’s questions and perspectives, the mother Heydi introduces to her daughter the traditional names of animals, their habit and feeding grounds, as well as the simulated sounds of the animals, and her unique tracking patterns that have been built upon these understandings. This video presents the mother’s bodily knowledge accumulated by her hunting experience in the mountains. The mother’s mixed use of Truku and Mandarin as she illustrates her message of life in the mountains and forests to her daughter’s camera allows the images to become a relational mnemonic device, as well as a record of the similarities and differences that exist between mother and daughter.

裝置-《動物樂園》

動物出沒的地方便是獵人觀察的獵場，當動物走下山脊來到棲息平台上，其目的除了繁殖之外，更重要的是要覓食。在獵人眼中，動物所留下的足跡都藏著訊息，形成了太魯閣族所稱的「tuqir」( 獸徑 )，獵人以此判斷留下的訊息，精準的追蹤動物的去向，在「出」與「入」設下陷阱「qlubung」（傳統套腳陷阱）。

Animal Paradise, Installation

The installation “Animal Paradise” simulates the ecological habitat of animals and replicates the natural scenes in the mountains. Hunters design animals’ favorite habitat with soil, small gravels, plants and fallen leaves of mountain pepper trees (Makauy). The areas where animals frequently roam become the hunting grounds that hunters tend to observe.
A video device is specifically designed to simulate the perspective of animals. Aside from reproduction, animals descend from the ridgeline to forage. When animals (from the perspective of animals) move from the ridgeline to a platform (ecological habitat), they begin searching for food and wherever they pass by, they leave behind traceable signs, which are called “tuqir” by the Truku. Hunters judge from the tuqir how to trace animals and set traps called “qlubung” (traditional leg-hold snares).
